POKEMON LEGENDS:ARCEUS

Pokemon Legends: Arceus! I borrowed this game from my brother and I have to say, this is probably my favorite Pokemon game. Is that a hot take? Probably, but I really enjoyed it. I loved all the mechanics from the open world concept to the catching mechanic to the fighting system. It's all so fun and such a nice break from the standard Pokemon formula which nearly every game follows. And can we talk about the story? And the setting? The creative aspects of this game were wonderful. The setting was so interesting, and I was hoping to see ZA set in Ye Olde Lumiose Cit, but it's still promising. The story had me reeling, from my banishment, to my growing disrust of Volo, to the iconic reveal in the prologue. (Might I add, as somebody who played PL:A and THEN played Brilliant Diamond, I was waiting the entire game for Cynthia to turn evil. Mildly disappointed that she didn't, but I still love my queen.) The Volo battle was by far my favorite, though I didn't spend long battling. I didn't spend long catching, either, because I'm big on story based games, so that was my main focus. I loved the amout of character customization you had as well, it was super fun to dress up. (Also, the Team Galactic uniforms and haircuts that you get for owning Brilliant Diamond were so silly.) It's been a while, so my review is a little less enthusiastic than it would've been if I'd just finished the game, but it's still very near and dear to my heart. Don't write it off just because it's not a mainline game, because it's definitely worth a play!
