Prom season! I've been super excited about getting ready for prom, especially my prom look! I was stressing abut what I'd do, I couldn't find a dress that I liked and I had no vision for what I wanted! Then, I found a dress that I had thrifted a few years back from the 70s that I had grabbed with the intent of wearing it for prom. I put it on and instantly fell back in love with it, so I decided to go with it! It's pink with airy tulle details that make me feel like some sort of fairy.(I'll try and insert a picture) So, I decided to take the 70s and fairy vibe and run with it! Looking on Pinterest, I curated the general idea that I'd wanted for my look, finding something vaguely historical, retro, and fantastical at the same time. For hair, I'm looking to do something with a half-up braided crown, maybe with a few more intricate details, depending on what I think I could handle and what would hold up throughout the night. For makeup, I'm looking for something glowy and whimsical, probably with some blue eyeshadow to tie back in the 70s look. As for jewelry, I'm considering commissioning some people to create some elvish wire pieces, particularly a circlet for my head, as well as a bracelet and perhaps an ear cuff. I'd like a necklace as well, but I'm not sure if I'd want it to be made of wire like the rest of the pieces, as I do love a dainty necklace. Some of the easier to find pieces such as the ear cuff and necklaces I may buy from Hot Topic, considering they have a lot of fantastical pieces lately. One issue though, is that I have no idea what to wear for shoes. I feel like nothing is calling to me, and I want something fairly simple since I'm not trying to spend a fortune here. I know I want heels, but what style would go with the dress utterly eludes me. I guess it's time to start looking. Also, best friend is coming! She got a gorgeous purple-y pink dress and I'm so excited to see how she styles it! I'll update more once I start getting the pieces together!
Update, I'm not wearing that dress. My mom ended up not liking it, so we had to scramble to find one that we both liked. Unfortunately, the only dress that I liked was on Shein. I don't like supporting Shein, but there was just nothing else that I liked, and if I did, it wouldn't come in time. We're really counting on this dress getting here sooner than later, because the latest delivery date is the day BEFORE prom. In any case, I need to ask my hairdresser if she'll touch up my hair! And maybe I'll ask her to style it too? We'll see what we can do!
